Hazelnuts – improve general health and protect against certain diseases

Research suggests adding hazelnuts to the daily menu improves the general condition of the body. A study conducted by the Linus Pauling Institute at the State University of Oregon found that adults who eat hazelnuts daily for 16 weeks improved the levels of two micronutrients in their bodies. According to the results of the study, the concentration of magnesium in the blood has increased. Vitamin E levels have increased. Also, those who consumed the nuts seven times a week have almost twice as much benefit as those who ate the hazelnuts once a week, even though they also had a significant benefit from them .

Unprocessed hazelnut contains 27% of daily vitamin E. Hazelnuts are rich in other vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin E, thiamin , niacin, iron, potassium, calcium, zinc, manganese, copper, folate and phosphorus, fiber, proteins and carbohydrates.

Adults are at increased risk of chronic illness and therefore vitamins and minerals play a key role in the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease, liver disease and even cancer. Due to the high number of antioxidants in them, hazelnuts prevent tumor cells . According to research, vitamin E is effective against prostate, breast, colon and lung cancer.

High levels of vitamin E in hazelnuts are also associated with the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease . There are other elements such as manganese and thiamine that play an important role in brain activity and cognitive functions.

Regular consumption of hazelnuts also prevents chronic diseases like cardiovascular, for example. In addition to containing a lot of fiber, nuts are rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, which reduce bad cholesterol and increase the good. This is also confirmed in studies conducted by the American Nutrition Society. They show that frequent eating hazelnuts in moderate amounts leads to lowering cholesterol, reducing inflammatory processes in the body, and improving blood lipids. The American Heart Association also advocates for good heart condition, most of the daily fat that is consumed to be monounsaturated fats such as those found in hazelnuts.
